FTA 2021 ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS

On November 3rd, Fashion Trust Arabia’s co-chairs Tania Fares and HH Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, under the patronage of HH Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser hosted the third edition of the FTA Prize with a glittery gala including some of the biggest fashion industry leaders and international celebrities and MCs supermodel Irina Shayk and Algerian TV presenter Fairouz Ziani.

The winners in the five categories were selected from the 25 finalists that had been pre-selected from over 800 applicants from 12 Arab countries. This year’s judges included the likes of Pierpaolo Piccioli, Elie Saab, Azza Fahmy, Zuhair Murad, Natalia Vodianova, Virgil Abloh, Alexa Chung,  Carine Roitfeld, Haider Ackermann and Remo Ruffino, Aiming to support emerging designers, the Arab world’s leading fashion prize grants the winner $200,000 and an exclusive mentorship program by Matchesfashion.com.

Moroccan designer Mohamed Benchellal‘s was awarded the Evening Wear Award by HH Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser. The Ready-to-Wear Award went to Iraqi designer Zaid Affas.  Emirati designer Alia Bin Omair won the Jewelry Award, while Algerian eye-wear designer Bilal Fellah won the Accessories Award.  AbdelGader El Tayeb received his Debut Talent Award by no other than Naomi Campbell. It was also the first time that FTA hosted designers of a guest country,with Agustin Nicolas Rivero taking home the prize to Columbia. Jordanian-footwear designer Amina Muaddi was honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
