Pretty Powerful celebrates the beauty of real women from a variety of backgrounds through their inspiring stories, photos and videos. It symbolizes Bobbi’s belief that all women possess natural beauty, and with the right tools, are empowered to a higher level of pretty.

In keeping with that philosophy, Pretty Powerful features 20 new women, all of whom were handpicked by Bobbi herself, from a multitude of backgrounds, careers and lifestyles. This iteration of the campaign includes several international participants who traveled across the globe to take part in the Pretty Powerful shoot: Alessandra Steinherr, Beauty Director of Glamour Magazine in the United Kingdom, Eun-Young Ahn, a journalist for Metro Newspaper in Korea, and Yvonne Hou, a Chinese beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogger based in Los Angeles.

“I believe that beauty comes in all ages, colors, shapes and sizes,” says Bobbi of her inspiration for Pretty Powerful. “It’s not about looking like someone else or trying to be someone you’re not. It’s about figuring out what works for you.” She adds: “Being Pretty Powerful is much bigger than beauty. It’s about confidence and the path you take to achieve it.”

Photos of each woman, as well as video footage and interviews, testimonials, face charts, application tips, behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot, will live online on Bobbi’s Middle East Facebook page under a dedicated Pretty Powerful tab (www.facebook.com/bobbibrownme).

As part of the Pretty Powerful campaign, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics will launch a contest throughout countries, including: France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Turkey, Middle East ( United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Lebanon) and South Africa, encouraging women to upload their photos and write why they feel Pretty Powerful on their local Bobbi Brown Facebook page for a chance to be the “face” of their country.

In April, each of the country’s winners will be chosen based on the results of a vote and be named the face of their country.  These winners will get a makeup application with a top Bobbi Brown artist, receive US$795 of Bobbi Brown products and experience their own professional Pretty Powerful photo shoot.  In May, these semi-finalists’ before and after photos will be posted on Facebook to initiate voting that will determine the five finalists.  These finalists will win a trip to attend a Bobbi Brown event in Paris in July in Galeries Lafayette.  From these five finalists, Bobbi will choose one winner who will receive a trip to New York including a master class with a Bobbi Brown makeup artist, an exclusive photo shoot and may be featured in an upcoming Pretty Powerful campaign.

Bobbi hopes that Pretty Powerful will help women feel more confident and empowered: “I hope that this campaign will show women that they are all beautiful in their own way.”

Bulgari recently announced that the successful sales of its specially-designed silver and ceramic ring, have contributed to donate to Save the Children over €12 million Euros, exceeding the objectives set by end 2011. Bulgari is so thrilled by the successful results of this corporate commitment that confirms the support to Save the Children for two more years, committing to raise at least an additional €3M by the end of 2013.  The iconic ring, inspired by the unique B.zero1 jewelry line, has been launched in October 2010 and is available in Bulgari stores worldwide, select department stores, and on Bulgari’s e-commerce website (active in the USA and Japan) for €390 ($420) each, of which €70 ($90) will be donated to Save the Children.

Bulgari’s financial commitment is improving the life of some of  the world’s neediest children in over 20 countries around the world, namely: Albania, Afghanistan,  Bolivia, Bosnia – Herzegovina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Indonesia, India, Italy, Mexico, Montenegro, Japan, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Southern Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda, UK and US domestic programs. Recognizing that there is no development without education, Bulgari’s key focus is to provide quality education opportunities to transform children lives. So far, thanks to the Bulgari donation, Save the Children could reach 344,101 Children, train over 10,160 teachers while implementing activities in 1,235 schools.

Beyond education, Bulgari confirmed a prompt reaction and strong commitment in funding Save the Children response in emergencies. Bulgari immediately supported Save the Children in the disaster affected areas in Haiti and northeast of Japan as well as in Ivory Cost, when recent civil war threatened security of thousands of children.

At 3 years from its inception, the partnership between Bulgari and Save the Children is becoming a long term relationship. To keep strengthening it, Bulgari is also investing in internal communication and employees involvement. To close the loop between the specially-designed ring and Save the Children’s final beneficiaries, a selected number of employees  are given the opportunity to  experience first-hand how difficult life can be for unprivileged children and how much of a difference Bulgari can make for them. A number of field trips for the Bulgari sales force are being organized to visit Save the Children projects in Indonesia, Uganda, Mississippi and more. The impressive engagement of Bulgari staff after these trips confirms the remarkable vision of this initiative.

This is the first major exhibition to be dedicated to the Hajj and the pilgrimage to Mecca, a journey that is central to the Muslim faith. The exhibition examines the significance of the Hajj as one of the Five Pillars of Islam, explores its importance for Muslims and looks at how this spiritual journey has evolved throughout history.

Azza Fahmy was briefed by the Museum to capture the cultural essence of the exhibition and she has sensitively created contemporary pieces that reflects spiritual objects used as part of the voyage.

True to her form Azza Fahmy fuses, culture, style and fashion and the collection consists of three specially designed modern jewellery pieces, inspired by the Hajj journey – two necklaces and a bracelet supported by carefully selected items from the Culture range – all in the Azza Fahmy trademark sterling silver and 18ct gold on one piece, complimented with calligraphy, precious and semi-precious stones.

The first of the bespoke pieces is the classic styled sterling silver & 18ct gold necklace with calligraphy that reads: Blessing, is inspired by the ‘Zamzameya’ – the container that was  used to carry water from the ‘well of Zamzam’.  The blessed water that is thought to cure, and to be both thirst quenching and satisfying.

The second necklace, in Sterling silver featuring brown& black onyx stones reflects the key to the Ka’ba and calligraphy that readshen one door closes, a thousand others open

Inspired by the textiles used to cover the Ka’ba and the ‘doors of the Ka’ba  the third piece of jewellery is a patterned sterling silver and 18ct gold bracelet with amethyst detail that features a combination of pierced motifs and calligraphy which reads: Be kind to your enemies as well as your friends, your heart becomes more pure with love.

The collection will be available exclusively at the British Museum’s ‘Grenville Room’ store from mid-December 2011.

Actress Kate Winslet in Stella McCartney at the “Mildred Pierce” permiere at the 68^th Venice Film Festival in September 2011.  Although we love the 3 color combination, the white bodice puts too much emphasize on WInslet’s chest, giving it an out of proportion appearance.

This dress by Dolce & Gabbana definitely needs a more curvy body than that of Hilary Swank, at the Cannes Film Festival May 2011.

The green silk jersey dress by Emilio Pucci might look fab on a more slender figure, but on Jennifer Lopez, here at the Bafta Awards in July 2011, it looks a size too small.

Its hard to miss with Kiera, who is such a natural waif-like beauty, yet that dress from the Roksanda Ilincic Resort 2012 collection  at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2011,  seems to cut at at all the wrong places, mal-proportioning Kiera Knightley’s body.

What must have been one of the worst dressed moments of 2011 is Rihanna in Stella McCartney at the Met Gala in May 2011. If sexy was the idea, the result was ridiculos from being half naked, mal-proportioned with a hair-do that didn’t work at all.

Strange to see a designer herself make a fashion faux-pas, but Stella McCartney definetly didn’t choose the best gown for herself at this years Met Gala in May 2011. What looked great on the runway, looked disproportioned  and too big on Stella.

We all know Tilda Swinton’s flair for masculine dressing, yet that tuxedo by Anne Valerie Hash just doesn’t work. Paired with Tilda’s completely nude complexion the look is just too somber and dull.

The pink ruffled gown by Roberto Cavalli might have worked with Tyra Banks at the Met Opera Season opening in September 2011, if she just would have taken the time to change her nail color from striking yellow to a matching shade of pink. Funny what impact such a little detail can have!

Helen Bonham Carter once again makes the worst dressed lists in this unrecognizable outfit at this years Golden Globe Awards.
