Gracing the cover of American Vogue in 1947 aged fifteen (top left), Carmen Dell’Orefice is today the world’s oldest working supermodel, continuing to mesmerize us with a stamina that would shame models a quarter her age. A formidable catwalk veteran with knife-edge cheekbones and a signature cloud of white hair, she has been muse to art’s and fashion’s greatest luminaries, including Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn, Horst, Norman Parkinson, Richard Avedon and Salvador Dali. More recently, a Rolex campaign with the befitting slogan Class is Forever has emblazoned her everlasting elegance into mainstream awareness. As she turns eighty, PASHION celebrates and salutes the legend that is Carmen Dell’Orefice.
